Our exciting journey begins between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m., when we pick you up at your accommodation and once the entire group is complete, we depart in our private transport to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Just 30 minutes from Cusco, we will stop at Qorao, a charming local market where you can stroll among colorful stalls of handmade crafts. Here, you will find unique pieces to take home as a special souvenir of your trip or surprise your loved ones with an authentic gift. Also, this is a great place to take pictures of the stunning landscapes and Andean wildlife, including llamas and alpacas.

We will continue to a panoramic viewpoint Mirador del Valle Sagrado de los Incas where you will have a spectacular view of the Andes mountain range and the majestic Sacred Valley. Don’t forget your camera.

Our next stop is Pisac, a place that combines history and living culture. Here we will visit:

Pisac Archaeological Site: Famous for its agricultural terraces that extend in perfect harmony with the mountain. You will also see the Intihuatana, an Inca sundial that predicted the solstices and equinoxes, essential for the agricultural calendar.
Pisac Market: A market where you will find textiles, ceramics and handmade jewelry, lively and ideal for taking a piece of Andean culture with you.

After our visit to Pisac, we will head to Urubamba, where you will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch with a wide variety of typical Peruvian dishes. It is the perfect opportunity to taste the local cuisine in a welcoming environment.

In the afternoon, we will explore Ollantaytambo (the Living Inca City), an impressive archaeological complex surrounded by imposing mountains. Here you will be able to admire:

The Inca fortress: With its gigantic stone walls and strategically built terraces.
Ceremonial water fountains and sacred temples: Spectacular views of the valley and a glacier in the distance.

Ollantaytambo is unique because it still maintains its original Inca layout, with cobblestone streets and ancestral walls. It is the only Inca town still inhabited today, allowing you to see how the culture has endured over the centuries.

Before returning to Cusco, we will stop in Chinchero (the Cradle of Andean Textile Art), a charming town known for its textile tradition. Here we will visit:

Chinchero colonial temple: Built on Inca foundations, this temple stands out for its impressive mural painting at the entrance.
Andean textile center: Local women will show you the ancestral process of weaving, from spinning.

Finally, we will return to Cusco.
Don’t miss this unique experience in the Sacred Valley of the Incas!

✓ GROUP TOURS:

  • Group trips are made up of different types of people, so physical conditions and ages may vary. By agreeing to be part of a group trip, you also accept that some people may be faster or slower than you. Therefore, each person can go at their own pace along the route.

A group may wish to modify the itinerary; however, it will be the guide who decides, after consulting all participants, whether such modifications are possible.

✓ CUSTOMER PICK-UP:

  • Please take note: All pick-ups are made within the city of Cusco, but we recommend booking a hotel in the historic center with a good location. Our guide or staff will confirm the pick-up time the day before the tour. Due to traffic conditions, the pick-up time may vary between 30 to 45 minutes.

Cusco is an ancient city with many narrow, cobbled streets. Some hotels and Airbnbs are located on streets with no vehicle access or on long and steep climbs, making luggage transportation difficult. We strongly recommend booking accommodation with easy access.

✓ LOST ITEMS:

  • Please pay attention to where you leave your belongings and remember to collect everything once you leave our transport, camps, or restaurants. You are solely responsible for your belongings during the tour.

✓ WEATHER:

  • Of course, the weather is unpredictable. Generally, Cusco’s dry season runs from April to October, but this does not prevent rain in June or the sun from coming out in December. So be prepared, no matter what month you are hiking in. Make sure you have rain gear, including a waterproof jacket, pants, poncho, and waterproof gloves. Many people forget gloves, but the cold and humidity make walking very unpleasant.

Additionally, be prepared for all four seasons. Hiking in the Andes involves several microclimates, and you must be ready. Layers are always essential as they are easy to adjust to different temperature changes. Bring a warm jacket as the night will be cold.

✓ ALTITUDE SICKNESS (SOROCHE) AND STOMACH PAIN:

For those hikers coming to Cusco directly from sea-level locations, we recommend arriving 2 days before your hike. Two of the most common health issues among tourists in Cusco are altitude sickness (soroche) and stomach pain caused by slow digestion.

  • Altitude sickness: Some symptoms include headache and nausea. There are some over-the-counter medications (pills) that help minimize the symptoms of this problem, such as Aspirin, Diamox, Sorojchi Pill, Alti Vital, among others. If symptoms persist, the next step is the use of oxygen. In these circumstances, we have the equipment and staff ready to help our hikers.
  • Stomach pain: It is recommended to drink between 3-4 liters of water per day. Your body will need it to stay hydrated. Hot drinks, such as coca leaf tea, are especially recommended. Also, soups, vegetables, and carbohydrates (not fried or heavy foods). Sweets, chocolates, cookies, and fruits are also a good option. In general, all foods that are easy to digest. Do not drink alcohol or smoke.

Try to sleep at least 8 hours and not exercise too much. Keep your body at an adequate temperature by wearing warm clothing to protect yourself from the cold.

During altitude adaptation, there is a general rule to follow: eat what is necessary and drink plenty of liquids.

This valley was a sacred area for the Incas as it encompassed a vast and highly productive agricultural territory. The main crops cultivated by the Incas were corn, potatoes, olluco, quinoa, and coca leaves, which were considered a sacred plant.

Many people arrive the same way as you; along the route, the only higher place is Chinchero, while the other locations are at a lower altitude than Cusco. In any case, the guide will always be attentive to your condition.

The Sacred Valley tour is one of the most comfortable. However, walking is required at each site since it is the only way to visit the archaeological centers. If someone has significant difficulty walking, I recommend booking a private tour so they can move at their own pace without having to follow a group.

No, it is not necessary to purchase tickets in advance for the Sacred Valley of the Incas. All tickets for tourist sites can be purchased on the same day of the excursion.

The tour operates throughout the year, always subject to weather conditions.

We recommend booking the tour in advance since we have two seasons (high and low), which differ in the number of tourists we accommodate. For this reason, it is best to reserve early to avoid any issues related to tour availability.

Any luggage that is not necessary for the excursion should remain in Cusco. All hotels in Cusco are accustomed and equipped to store luggage. If you do not have a place to leave your luggage, you can store it at our offices until the end of your adventure. We will ensure that your belongings are securely stored, so you don’t have to worry!

The best time to visit the Sacred Valley in Cusco is during the dry season, which typically lasts from May to September. During these months, the weather is more stable, and there is less chance of rain, making it easier to explore archaeological sites and engage in outdoor activities.
