Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour 2D โ€“ A Journey to the Heart of the Inca Empire

In this unforgettable Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour 2D, you’ll discover two of Peruโ€™s most iconic destinations in just two daysโ€”perfect for travelers short on time but eager for a rich cultural adventure.

Day one begins with a full-day guided tour through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where you’ll visit traditional Andean villages, vibrant artisan markets, and majestic archaeological sites like Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Learn about Inca engineering, agriculture, and spiritual beliefs as you explore the terraces and temples surrounded by stunning Andean landscapes.

In the afternoon, youโ€™ll board the scenic train to Aguas Calientes, a charming town nestled at the base of Machu Picchu. After checking into a comfortable hotel, enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the best local restaurants, where you can taste traditional Peruvian cuisine and recharge for the adventure ahead.

On day two, the magic continues with an early morning visit to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu citadel. Accompanied by an expert guide, youโ€™ll uncover the history, architecture, and mysteries of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you’re up for more adventure, you can also hike to the top of Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for panoramic views youโ€™ll never forget.

Whether youโ€™re passionate about ancient civilizations, photography, or just want to tick Machu Picchu off your bucket list, this Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour 2D offers the perfect balance of culture, history, and natural beauty.

Do you want to discover the most incredible places left by the Incas, but don’t have much time?

Our 2-day Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu tour will take you to the most impressive Inca complexes, culminating in the world wonder: Machu Picchu.
During this adventure, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of this fascinating civilization and be amazed by its incredible architecture and engineering, witnesses to a legacy that continues to dazzle the world.
The Sacred Valley is a place of incomparable beauty with small villages and ancient archaeological sites amidst steep mountains to the northeast of Cusco. This valley was very important to the Incas due to its geographical location and excellent climate. Today, it is one of the best places for corn production, a food highly popular among Peruvians.
Running through the mountains is the sacred Urubamba River (also called Willkamayu or Vilcanota), the center of Inca cosmology. The Incas knew that this river was not only fully linked to constellations and snow-capped peaks, but it was also a reflection of the Milky Way.
On the second day, you will visit Machu Picchu, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will fulfill your dream of visiting the wonder and enjoy this archaeological sanctuary to the fullest, in a tour that also gives you the opportunity to spend as much time as possible contemplating Machu Picchu. So, what are you waiting for? Come with us to discover the magic of the Incas.

We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 a.m. and head to Pรญsac, in the Sacred Valley, to visit the first archaeological site on this route. Here, Inca architecture and engineering are truly amazing. You will enjoy a guided tour of the Pรญsac complex for approximately two hours. Then, you will explore one of the most colorful traditional markets in the region. Here you can take advantage of excellent prices and buy directly from the producers. You will surely find many souvenirs and gifts for your friends and family.

Our next stop will be Urubamba, around noon. In this peaceful place, you will enjoy the best of Peruvian cuisine with a buffet lunch at an excellent restaurant. You will have a wide variety of dishes and taste regional food prepared with fresh local ingredients.

The last archaeological destination of the tour will be Ollantaytambo, 30 minutes from Urubamba. This site was built with carved granite stones and is another impressive example of Inca engineering. Here, you will see the second largest preserved Inca stone to date (90 tons), which was part of the Temple of the Sun. You will discover all the secrets of Ollantaytambo during a guided tour of this fascinating site.

Later, we will head to the station to board the Expedition train to Aguas Calientes. During the journey, you will observe beautiful glaciers and snow-capped peaks, as well as fertile green valleys and Inca agricultural terraces on both sides of the valley. Once in Aguas Calientes, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in.

In the afternoon, youโ€™ll have free time to rest and at night, youโ€™ll enjoy a delicious dinner at the best restaurant before heading to sleep.

โœ“ Valid Student ID for Inca Trail and Machu Picchu:

  • To receive the student discount, travelers must have a valid ID with the following details:

โœ“ Note about the ISIC Card:

  • Although the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is recognized in many countries, it is not accepted by the Peruvian government for student discounts at Machu Picchu. Just as a passport cannot be replaced by any other form of identification for international procedures, the student card cannot be substituted by an ISIC or any other document for discounts in Peru.
The Peruvian government’s policy is strict regarding student accreditation. It is essential to present a card that meets these criteria to be eligible for student-priced tickets, as you will be required to show the physical student card when entering Machu Picchu. If you do not meet these requirements upon arrival at Machu Picchu, there is a significant risk of being denied entry and having to pay the full ticket price, depending on availability. Additional services and upgrades you can include in this trip:

  • Booking the Machu Picchu tour is easy. You can reserve your spot online through our website, where our booking platform will guide you step by step. Payment for the tour can be made with any credit or debit card, and you can also pay in your home country’s currency for added convenience.

โœ“ Machu Picchu Tour Reservation:
To reserve the Machu Picchu tour, we require a non-refundable deposit of $205 USD. This deposit secures your spot on the Machu Picchu tour and allows us to purchase your Machu Picchu tickets and train tickets, which must be purchased well in advance.

  • Our booking platform provides you with the option to pay only the deposit, along with any additional options you select, or you can choose to pay the full amount of the tour in advance. If you decide to pay only the deposit, the remaining balance can be paid upon your arrival in Cusco, one day before the tour departure.

โœ“ Remaining Balance Payment:

  • If you opt to pay only the deposit, the remaining balance must be paid upon arrival in Cusco, one day before the tour begins. The balance can be paid in soles or dollars in cash or by card (with a 5% additional charge). You also have the option to pay online on our website with a 5% charge.

โœ“ Cancellation of Your Reservation:
Bestreks Agency has the following policies regarding reservation cancellations: Due to the strict rules set by the Machu Picchu National Park, once a reservation is made, the space and permit acquired cannot be canceled. It is also not possible to transfer the permit to another person with a different name. The date of your permit cannot be modified. Therefore, if you cannot arrive on the scheduled date, no refunds will be made. Permits are non-refundable, and Bestreks Agency will purchase the permits as soon as your reservation confirmation is sent. If you cancel 30 or more days in advance, you will lose your initial deposit but will be entitled to the tickets we have purchased for you.

  • If you cancel between 2 and 3 days before your trip, it will be considered a “no show,” and you will be required to pay 100% of the total cost. You will be entitled to the entrance tickets we have purchased for you, a guided tour of Machu Picchu on the day it was originally scheduled in your itinerary, train ticket, and bus ticket.
  • Events beyond our control that make any part of the trip impossible, such as strikes, protests, flight cancellations, weather conditions, or overbooking of hotels or flights. In any of these cases, we will suggest alternative arrangements (if available) to make the trip possible. Any costs associated with these alternative arrangements will be the responsibility of the traveler.

โœ“ Recommendations:
We strongly recommend that you fully understand all the booking and cancellation policies before making your payment to ensure that your investment is protected and that you have a smooth booking experience for your Machu Picchu excursion.

โœ“ INFORMATIONAL MEETING OR PHONE CALL PRIOR TO DEPARTURE

  • All informational meetings and briefings are held the evening before your trip starts at our main office in Cusco (or at your hotel) at 6:00 p.m. These meetings last approximately 30 minutes. If you are unable to attend, you will need to arrange another time via email or phone call.

โœ“ BALANCE PAYMENT FOR THE HIKE (IN CUSCO)

  • If you still have an outstanding balance, you must pay it one day before your hike/tour; otherwise, your trip reservation will not be confirmed. If possible, it would be greatly appreciated if you could pay the balance of the trekking/tour in cash, either in US dollars or local currency, at our office in Cusco or during the briefing time. You can withdraw money from various ATMs along Avenida Sol (in either US dollars or Peruvian soles). You can also pay with a credit/debit card or via IZIPAY, online or in person, but you will incur a 5% service charge, issued by our payment gateway (Niubiz) and IZIPAY.

โœ“ PICK-UP OF CLIENTS

  • Please note: All pick-ups are within the city of Cusco, but we recommend booking a hotel in the historic center with a good location. Our guide or staff will confirm the pick-up time one day before the tour. Due to traffic conditions, the pick-up time may vary by 30 to 45 minutes. Cusco is an ancient city with many narrow and cobblestone streets. Some hotels and Airbnbs are located on streets without access to transportation or on long, steep hills, making it difficult to transport your luggage. We strongly recommend booking accommodation with easy access.

โœ“ HEALTH

  • If you have medical restrictions for any or all of the activities detailed in your reservation, please contact your doctor and inquire about the risks of participating in such activities.

โœ“ WEATHER

  • Of course, the weather is unpredictable. The dry season in Cusco is usually from April to October, but this does not prevent rain in June or sunshine in December, so be prepared. No matter which month you are hiking, make sure to have rain gear that includes a waterproof jacket, pants, poncho, and waterproof gloves. Many people forget gloves, but the cold and humidity make hiking very unpleasant.
Additionally, prepare for four seasons. Hiking in the Andes involves several microclimates, so you must be ready. Layers are always essential as they are easy to adjust to different temperature changes. Prepare with a warm jacket as the night will be cold.

โœ“ ALTITUDE SICKNESS (SOROCHE) AND STOMACH PAIN

  • For hikers coming directly to Cusco from sea level, we recommend arriving 2 days before your hike. Two of the most common health issues among tourists in Cusco are: Altitude sickness (Soroche) and stomach pain caused by slow digestion.
Altitude sickness; some of the symptoms are: headache and nausea. There are some over-the-counter medications (pills) that help minimize the symptoms of this problem, such as Aspirin, Diamox, Soroichi Pill, Alti Vital, among others. If the symptoms persist, the next step is to use oxygen. In these circumstances, we have the equipment and staff ready to assist our hikers.
  • Stomach pain; it is recommended to drink 3-4 liters of water a day. Your body will need it to stay hydrated. Hot drinks such as coca leaf tea are especially recommended. Also, soups, vegetables, and carbohydrates (not fried or heavy). Sweets, chocolates, cookies, and fruits are also a good option. In general, all foods that are easy to digest. Do not drink alcohol or smoke.
  • Try to sleep at least 8 hours and avoid excessive exercise. Keep your body at an appropriate temperature by wearing warm clothing to protect yourself from the cold. During the adaptation to altitude, there is a general rule to follow: eat only what is necessary and drink plenty of liquids.

โœ“ MEDICAL RESTRICTIONS

  • Clients must inform their travel agencies of any medical restrictions they may have before the start of their trip. Some examples of medical restrictions include: allergies, special diets, any medication the client is currently taking, and health problems. In case of severe medical restrictions, we recommend that you consult with your doctor to approve your participation in the hike. The information you send us will be very important as it will help us design a plan to make your trip more pleasant and worry-free.

โœ“ LOST ITEMS

  • Please pay attention to where you leave your belongings and remember to collect everything once you leave our transportation, campsites, or restaurants. You are solely responsible for your belongings during the tour.

This valley was a sacred area for the Incas as it encompassed a vast and highly productive territory for agriculture. The main products cultivated by the Incas were: corn, potatoes, olluco, quinoa, and coca leaves, which were considered a sacred plant.

There are many people who arrive the same way you do; along the route, the only place higher than Cusco is Chinchero, while the other places are at a lower altitude than Cusco. In any case, the guide will always be attentive to your well-being.

The Sacred Valley tour is one of the most comfortable, however, at each visited site, there will be walking as it is the only way to explore the archaeological centers. If anyone has significant difficulty walking, I recommend taking a private service tour. This way, you can do the journey at your own pace without having to follow a group.

No, it is not necessary to buy tickets in advance for the Sacred Valley of the Incas. All tickets for the tourist sites can be purchased on the same day of the excursion.

The tour is available year-round, always subject to weather conditions.

We recommend booking the tour in advance since we have two seasons (high and low), which differ in the number of tourists we operate. For this reason, it is better to reserve ahead of time to avoid any unforeseen issues related to tour availability.

The climate in Machu Picchu can vary, with temperatures ranging from 12ยฐC to 24ยฐC. It is recommended to wear layered clothing to adjust to the temperature changes throughout the day.

These are the mountains that surround the Inca Citadel. Huayna Picchu is located at 2,720 meters above sea level and offers a spectacular view of the archaeological site, as well as several Inca ruins along the way.
Machu Picchu Mountain is located at 3,082 meters above sea level and serves as another viewpoint towards the famous historic sanctuary. However, the hike to its summit is significantly less challenging than the Huayna Picchu mountain.
To hike either of these mountains, it is necessary to acquire an additional entry ticket well in advance. For more information, please contact your travel agent.

Machu Picchu is located at the edge of the Peruvian high jungle and the Andes, at 2,430 meters above sea level. Temperatures in this region range from 12ยฐC to 24ยฐC, with warm and humid weather during the day and cooler temperatures at night. The climate conditions at Machu Picchu are characterized by two main seasons:

Dry Season: This is considered the coldest time of the year. It begins in May and ends in September. Sunny and bright days are expected throughout this season.
