DAY 1: Cusco | Chullpas of Ninamarca – Paucartambo – Abra Acjanaco – Cloud Forest – Pilcopata.
We will pick you up from your hotel around 5:45 a.m., and after a short journey of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, we will make our first stop at the Chullpas of Ninamarca (3,500 m / 11,482 feet), a pre-Inca site belonging to the Lupaca culture. During the ride, you will enjoy stunning views of the Andean mountains and valleys, a landscape that will prepare you for the rest of the adventure.
Next, we will arrive at the picturesque folkloric town of Paucartambo (2,906 m / 9,534 feet), where you will enjoy a typical breakfast. This town is known for its rich culture and deep-rooted traditions. After a brief break, the journey will continue to Acjanaco (3,560 m / 11,679 feet), the entry point to Manu National Park, where our guide will provide a short introductory talk about the park and the local biodiversity.
From Acjanaco, we will travel approximately 2 more hours to the cloud forest, one of the park’s most iconic areas. Upon arrival, we will begin our walk through this vibrant ecosystem, where we can observe the amazing Andean cock-of-the-rock — an emblematic species of the region — along with several types of monkeys, orchids, ferns, and beautiful waterfalls in the high jungle. During the walk, we will stop for lunch surrounded by nature, making this moment even more memorable.
After lunch, we will continue our journey to Pilcopata (968 m / 3,175 feet), where we will reach our first lodge. There, we will have time to rest and enjoy a delicious dinner prepared with local ingredients. At night, we will head out for a nocturnal walk — a unique experience where we can observe insects, frogs, and perhaps snakes, making it an unforgettable encounter with the jungle’s mysterious side.

Day 2: Pilcopata | Puerto de Atalaya – Amazon Lodge (activities).
We will start the day early, enjoying an energizing breakfast to prepare ourselves for a day full of adventures. We will board our transportation and head to the wildlife rescue center and a hummingbird garden. Here, the commitment to conservation and wildlife care will provide us with a deeper insight into the efforts to preserve this valuable ecosystem.
Next, we will travel to Puerto Atalaya (500 m / 1,640 feet), a picturesque settlement located on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River. From here, we will begin a fascinating boat tour along the river — a journey filled with stunning landscapes and an incredible variety of aquatic species and birds. During the trip, we will have the opportunity to observe herons, vultures, cormorants, and other birds in their natural habitat.
As we progress, we will reach Amazon Manu Lodge, an ecological refuge where we can rest and relax. At the lodge, we will have time to enjoy a refreshing swim in the river — a revitalizing experience surrounded by nature — and then sit down to enjoy a delicious lunch made with local ingredients.
In the afternoon, we will venture into the forest for a 3-hour hike, where we will explore the rich biodiversity of the area. During the hike, we will have the chance to observe groups of monkeys in their natural habitat, as well as a wide variety of plants and jungle species.
At night, we will take a nocturnal walk to uncover the secrets of the jungle in its most mysterious version. Day 3: Amazon Manu Lodge | Parrot Clay Lick – Machuwasi Lake.
Very early in the morning, at 5:00 a.m., we will embark on an exciting boat journey to the parrot clay lick, a fascinating place located along the riverbank. Every morning, at this point in the jungle, various species of parrots and macaws gather on the clay wall to feed on the mineral-rich clay. This behavior helps them digest food and eliminate toxins from their bodies. Among the species we will be able to observe are the blue-headed parrot, the white-eyed parakeet, and the chestnut-fronted macaw — all displaying vibrant colors in an impressive natural spectacle.
After this unique experience, we will return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious and comforting breakfast that will recharge us with energy. Afterwards, you can relax and refresh yourself in the river’s waters, surrounded by the lush nature of Manu.
In the afternoon, we will have lunch and then head to the stunning Machuwasi Lake — a little-explored site in the heart of the Amazon jungle that serves as a refuge for a great diversity of birds. While exploring the area, we will have the opportunity to observe species like ducks, eagles, hoatzins, and, if we’re lucky, capybaras resting along the lake’s shore.
From there, we will board artisanal boats that will take us through the calm waters of the lake, immersing us in a peaceful, natural environment. The boat ride will take us to the tallest observation tower, where we can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view. From the top, we’ll witness an incredible array of birdlife flying over the waters and perching on nearby trees. After our visit to Machuwasi Lake, we will begin our return walk along a picturesque trail surrounded by the beauty of the rainforest.

- All pickups are made within the city of Cusco, but we recommend booking a hotel in the historic center with a good location. Our guide or staff will confirm your pickup time a day before the tour. Due to traffic conditions, the pickup time may vary by 30 to 45 minutes. Cusco is an ancient city with many narrow and cobblestone streets. Some hotels and Airbnbs are located on streets with no transport access or on long and steep hills, making it difficult to transport your luggage. We strongly recommend booking accommodation with easy access.

- Please pay attention to where you leave your belongings and remember to collect everything once you leave our transport, campsites, or restaurants. You are the sole responsible for your belongings during the tour.

- Of course, the weather is unpredictable. Generally, the dry season in Cusco is from April to October, but this doesn’t prevent rain in June or sunshine in December, so be prepared as it can be very hot in the jungle during the dry season.
✓ Altitude Sickness (Soroche) and Stomach Pain:
For those hiking to Cusco directly from sea level, we recommend arriving 2 days before your hike. Two of the most common health problems among tourists in Cusco are:
Altitude sickness (Soroche) and stomach pain caused by slow digestion. Altitude sickness symptoms include headaches and nausea.
- Stomach pain: It is recommended to drink 3-4 liters of water per day. Your body will need this to stay hydrated. Hot drinks like coca leaf tea are especially recommended. Soups, vegetables, and carbohydrates (not fried or heavy) are also a good option. Sweets, chocolates, cookies, and fruits are also a good choice. In general, all foods that are easily digestible. Avoid alcohol and smoking.
Try to sleep at least 8 hours and avoid excessive exercise. Keep your body at an appropriate temperature by wearing warm clothes to protect yourself from the cold. During the adjustment to altitude, there is a general rule to follow: eat what is necessary and drink plenty of fluids.
