Description

Connect with nature in the heart of Manu National Park. Manu is home to a wide variety of animal and plant species, many of them endemic and in danger of extinction. This park is considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and its conservation is key to the preservation of the Amazon ecosystems. It is an ecotourism destination, where visitors can experience the wildlife and natural wealth of the rainforest. Manu Cultural is a destination that combines history, nature and culture in an unparalleled way, offering a complete experience that you cannot miss.

If you are one of those people looking to explore the most impressive routes in the Amazon, this is the trip you have been waiting for. Whether you decide to join alone, as a couple or with friends, our experience will take you through the most spectacular trails, where the jungle comes to life and every corner is a new discovery.
The Manu Cultural is one of the most fascinating and accessible areas to explore in the Peruvian Amazon, and is considered one of the most impressive destinations in Peru. On this tour, you will cross a wide variety of landscapes, from the majestic Andes Mountains to the high and low jungles of the Manu National Park, one of the most biodiverse natural areas in the world.
Throughout this trip, you will have the opportunity to visit the Chullpas de Ninamarca, an ancient pre-Incan cemetery that is part of the cultural heritage of the people who inhabited the region before the arrival of the Incas.
The next destination is the picturesque colonial town of Paucartambo, known for its well-preserved colonial architecture. In this town, you will be able to see the emblematic colonial bridge, which dates back to the viceregal era, as well as the colonial temple, a place that reflects the passage of centuries and the influence of Spanish culture in the region.
As you enter the Manu National Park, you will be accompanied by specialized guides who will provide you with first-class attention, ensuring that you make the most of this unique experience. In addition, you will enjoy delicious typical dishes prepared by our expert chefs. In this park, you will encounter an astonishing biodiversity. Manu is home to more than 1,000 species of birds, 200 species of mammals, and hundreds of species of plants. Among the most emblematic species that you will be able to observe are the woolly monkey, the spectacled bear, and many other unique species. Manu is, without a doubt, one of the richest places in biodiversity on the planet.
In addition, one of the most spectacular moments will be the visit to the parrot clay lick, a natural phenomenon in which thousands of parrots gather in large numbers to feed on the clay of the cliffs, creating an impressive visual spectacle.
Did you know that the Manu National Park was created in 1973 and was later recognized as a Biosphere Reserve and Natural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO? Join us to discover the heart of the jungle and everything it has to teach us!

We will pick you up from your hotel around 5:30 a.m. and, after a brief 1 hour and 30-minute journey, we will make our first stop at the Chullpas de Ninamarca (3,500 m / 11,482 ft), a pre-Inca archaeological site belonging to the Lupaca culture. Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Andean mountains and valleys, preparing you for the adventure ahead.

Next, we will arrive at the folkloric town of Paucartambo (2,906 m / 9,534 ft), where you will enjoy a traditional breakfast. This town is well known for its rich culture and traditions. After a short rest, we will continue our journey to Acjanaco (3,560 m / 11,679 ft), the entrance to Manu National Park, where our guide will give a brief introduction to the park and its biodiversity.

From Acjanaco, we will travel for about 2 hours to the cloud forest, one of the most emblematic areas of the park. Upon arrival, we will hike through this unique ecosystem, where we can spot the Andean cock-of-the-rock, the national bird of Peru, as well as various species of monkeys, orchids, ferns, and stunning waterfalls. During the hike, we will pause for lunch amidst nature, making this experience even more special.

After lunch, we will continue towards Pilcopata (968 m / 3,175 ft), where we will reach our first lodge. Here, you will have time to rest and enjoy a delicious dinner prepared with local ingredients.

In the evening, we will embark on a night walk, a unique experience where we will observe nocturnal wildlife, including insects, frogs, and possibly snakes, making this activity an unforgettable adventure.

This first day marks the beginning of an incredible journey into the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, full of nature, history, and culture.

✓ MANU CULTURAL ZONE RESERVATION

Our booking platform allows you to pay only the deposit along with any selected add-ons, or you can choose to pay the full tour amount upfront. If you decide to pay only the deposit, the remaining balance can be paid upon arrival in Cusco, one day before the tour departure.

  • Remaining balance payment: If you choose to pay only the deposit, the remaining balance must be paid upon arrival in Cusco, one day before the tour begins. The balance can be paid in soles or dollars in cash or by card (with an additional 5% fee). You also have the option to pay online through our website with a 5% fee.

  • All informative meetings and briefings take place the evening before your trip begins at our main office in Cusco (or at your hotel) at 6:00 p.m. These meetings last approximately 30 to 45 minutes. If you are unable to attend, you will need to coordinate another time via email or phone call.

Tour Balance Payment (in Cusco)

  • If you still have a pending balance, you must pay it one day before your hike/tour. Otherwise, your trip reservation will not be confirmed. If possible, it would be greatly appreciated if you could pay the tour balance in cash, either in US dollars or local currency, at our office in Cusco or during the briefing. You can withdraw money from various ATMs along Avenida Sol (either in US dollars or Peruvian soles). You can also pay by credit/debit card or through IZIPAY, either online or in person, but a 5% service fee will apply, issued by our payment gateway (Niubiz) and IZIPAY.

✓ Customer Pickup

  • Please take note: All pickups are carried out within the city of Cusco, but we recommend booking a hotel in the historic center with a good location. Our guide or staff will confirm the pickup time one day before the tour. Due to traffic conditions, the pickup time may vary between 30 to 45 minutes. Cusco is an ancient city with many narrow, cobbled streets. Some hotels and Airbnbs are located on streets without transportation access or on long and steep slopes, making luggage transport difficult. We strongly recommend booking accommodation with easy access.

✓ Lost Items

  • Please pay attention to where you leave your belongings and remember to collect everything once you leave our transportation, camps, or restaurants. You are solely responsible for your items during the tour.

Weather

  • Of course, the weather is unpredictable. In general, Cusco’s dry season runs from April to October, but this does not mean there won’t be rain in June or sunshine in December. Be prepared, as the jungle gets very hot during the dry season.

Altitude Sickness (Soroche) and Stomach Pain

For hikers coming to Cusco directly from sea-level locations, we recommend arriving 2 days before your trek. Two of the most common health issues among tourists in Cusco are altitude sickness (Soroche) and stomach pain caused by slow digestion. Altitude sickness symptoms include headaches and nausea.

  • Stomach pain: It is recommended to drink between 3-4 liters of water per day. Your body will need it to stay hydrated. Hot drinks, such as coca leaf tea, are particularly recommended. Soups, vegetables, and carbohydrates (not fried or heavy) are also good options. Sweets, chocolates, cookies, and fruits are a great choice. In general, any food that is easy to digest. Avoid alcohol and smoking.

Try to sleep at least 8 hours and avoid excessive exercise. Keep your body at a suitable temperature by wearing warm clothing to protect yourself from the cold. During altitude adaptation, there is a general rule to follow: eat only what is necessary and drink plenty of fluids.

Manu National Park is located in the Amazon region, in southeastern Peru, covering parts of the Cusco and Madre de Dios departments.

Tours typically last between 3 to 10 days, depending on the itinerary and the activities included.

No, mobile phone coverage is very limited in the park, especially in the more remote areas. It is recommended to be prepared to disconnect during the tour.

The climate in the park is warm and humid, with frequent rainfall. It is important to be prepared for these conditions, wear appropriate clothing, and protect yourself from insects. However, the guides are trained to ensure the group’s safety.

Yes, photography is allowed, but always with respect for the wildlife and natural environment. It is recommended to use long-range lenses to avoid getting too close to the animals.

Yes, you can visit the park without the yellow fever vaccine, but it is highly recommended for health and safety reasons.

The climate is tropical, with an average temperature of 32°C (89°F), though it can range between 25°C (77°F) and 42°C (107°F). During the summer season, from December to March, rain is frequent, especially in the afternoons.

Most people travel to Cusco by air. Keep in mind that Cusco’s airport operates only domestic flights. Therefore, if you are traveling from abroad to Lima, you will need to collect your luggage at the airport and check it in again for your flight to Cusco. Four airlines operate round-trip flights between Lima and Cusco: LATAM Airlines, AVIANCA Airlines, and Star Perú. All these airlines offer similar flight schedules and services, but we generally recommend LATAM Airlines. You also have the option to travel to Cusco by land. Please note that the journey from Lima to Cusco takes approximately 24 hours.

We offer a variety of local superfoods and traditional Peruvian dishes, such as rice, chicken, beef, salads, potatoes, vegetables, and fresh fruits, all prepared by our local chef. We also have excellent vegetarian options and cater to specific dietary requests with proper preparation and good communication.
