Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

Welcome to Bestrek. We appreciate your choice of our services to explore Cusco and its incredible destinations. To ensure a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience, we have established the following terms and conditions that govern the provision of our services. By booking a tour with us, you acknowledge and agree to comply with these conditions.

2. Reservations and Payments

Reservations can be made through our website or directly at our offices. To secure your spot, we strongly recommend booking in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons.

Payments can be made using credit or debit cards, and we offer the option to pay in your local currency for convenience. Please note that online payments are subject to a 5% service fee charged by IZIPAY, which must be covered by the client. Your reservation will be confirmed once the payment is processed.

3. Cancellation and Refund Policy

We understand that travel plans may change, and therefore, we offer the following cancellation policies:

  • Partial refund: If you cancel before 5:00 p.m. on the day before the tour, you will receive a 50% refund.
  • No refund: Cancellations made after 5:00 p.m. on the day before the tour will not be eligible for a refund.

To avoid inconveniences, we strongly advise you to read our cancellation policies carefully before booking. Bestrek is not responsible for cancellations due to external circumstances, such as flight delays, illnesses, or unforeseen personal situations.

4. Participation Requirements

Our tours may involve walking, hiking, or physical activities of moderate intensity. Therefore, participants should be in good health and capable of engaging in these activities.

For families traveling with young children or elderly individuals, we recommend booking a private tour, which allows for a more flexible pace. Bestrek is not responsible for any issues arising from pre-existing medical conditions. If you have any specific health concerns, please consult with your doctor before booking.

5. Safety and Liability

Bestrek prioritizes the safety of our travelers. All our tours are led by professional guides trained in first aid and emergency response. We provide a first aid kit and an oxygen tank on all our trekking and adventure tours. However, please note that our guides are not authorized to prescribe or administer medications. We strongly advise travelers to carry their prescribed medications.

Bestrek is not responsible for injuries or accidents resulting from:

  • Failure to follow the guide’s instructions.
  • Improper use of equipment, such as ATVs during our adventure tours.
  • Risks associated with high-altitude travel, including altitude sickness (soroche).

6. Weather Conditions

Cusco’s weather is highly unpredictable. While we operate tours year-round, sudden climate changes may impact itineraries. In the event of extreme weather conditions that make the tour unsafe, we will attempt to reschedule the activity. If rescheduling is not possible, refunds will be issued according to our cancellation policies.

We advise all travelers to be prepared for varying weather conditions, bringing appropriate clothing, including rain gear, warm jackets, and sun protection.

7. Lost Items

Travelers are solely responsible for their personal belongings. Please ensure you collect all your items before leaving our transport, campsites, or restaurants. Bestrek is not responsible for lost or misplaced belongings during the tour.

8. Pick-Up Service

Pick-ups are conducted only within the city of Cusco. We highly recommend staying in the historic center to facilitate the pick-up process.

Due to Cusco’s traffic and narrow streets, pick-up times may vary by 30 to 45 minutes. If your hotel is located on an inaccessible street, we will coordinate a nearby pick-up point. Please ensure you are ready at the agreed time to avoid delays.

9. Entrance Fees

Entrance tickets to archaeological sites and museums are not included in the tour price. Travelers are responsible for purchasing the necessary tickets, which can be obtained on the same day of the tour.

For the Sacred Valley and other major sites, the Cusco Tourist Ticket is required, which ranges from S/. 70.00 (USD 20.00) to S/. 130.00 (USD 36.00) per person. Please bring sufficient cash to cover these costs.

10. Tipping Guidelines

Tipping is not mandatory but is a common practice in tourism. If you wish to show appreciation for your guides, drivers, or support staff, any additional tip is highly valued. Although Bestrek ensures that all our team members receive fair wages, gratuities are a great way to recognize their hard work and dedication.

11. Travel Insurance

While travel insurance is not required, we highly recommend it to cover unexpected situations such as flight delays, cancellations, accidents, or medical emergencies.

If you plan to participate in high-altitude hikes, verify that your insurance policy covers elevations above 4,000 meters (13,123 feet), as some policies may have altitude restrictions.

12. Itinerary Modifications

For group tours, participants may have different walking speeds and physical conditions. If a group wishes to modify the itinerary, the final decision will be made by the guide, considering the feasibility and safety of the requested changes.

Bestrek reserves the right to make last-minute adjustments to itineraries due to unforeseen circumstances, including road closures, strikes, or extreme weather conditions. In such cases, we will strive to offer alternative options.

13. High-Altitude Sickness (Soroche) and Stomach Issues

If you are arriving from a low-altitude area, we recommend staying in Cusco for at least 2 days before your trek to allow proper acclimatization. The most common health issues in Cusco are:

  • Altitude sickness (soroche): Symptoms may include headaches, nausea, and dizziness. We recommend staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol, and consuming coca tea. Over-the-counter medications such as Diamox, Sorojchi Pills, or aspirin can help alleviate symptoms. Oxygen is available on all our tours for emergencies.
  • Stomach issues: Due to the change in diet and altitude, digestion can be slower. We recommend drinking 3-4 liters of water daily and consuming light meals, such as soups, vegetables, and carbohydrates. Avoid fried or heavy foods, alcohol, and smoking during your stay.

14. Acceptance of Terms

By booking any tour with Bestrek, the traveler acknowledges and agrees to all the terms and conditions outlined above. We strongly recommend carefully reviewing this information before confirming your reservation to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

For any additional inquiries, our team is available to assist you. We look forward to welcoming you to Cusco and the Andes for an unforgettable adventure!
